Dear Families:

We want to cordially invite you to join us on Monday, June 1, for an in-person and virtual engagement session where you can learn more about this year’s LRFP update and review.

This year’s Plan update represents a major departure from our previous model of placing the majority of our focus on creating spaces to a method that puts greater emphasis on other factors that impact the way we approach capital project construction. These include land availability in a high-density city where buildable locations are increasingly scarce, geographical and topographical considerations, and working within a framework constrained by government fiscal challenges.
These changes, including the ones that will be introduced if the government approves a business case proposal for the Tweedsmuir “super campus”, will be challenging for our community. We understand many families will be impacted by this shift in the LRFP and we reiterate that we will help them adjust with care and compassion.
Our Tweedsmuir families, in particular, will receive from us the vital support they need to ensure the transition ahead, if it happens, is as smooth as possible and that Tweedsmuir students will not lose the quality of education they deserve. In addition, we want to take this moment to thank our Tweedsmuir families for their resilience. While the challenges ahead are many, we are confident they will result in better outcomes such as modern schools, fewer portables, and more green spaces for our students to enjoy.
