Public Event Notice: Community gathering, Dec 18

Dear parents and caregivers,

In case you live close to the school or are driving past it this Saturday, I wanted to let you know that a local community group is organizing an event out in front of our school, which will also include some of our District’s elected School Trustees.

The organizers of this event, Sanctuary Health, have planned it in response to recent actions taken by Canadian Border Services Agency, that affected a family who attends our school.

If you would like to know more about the event, you can find their listing here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1231960360656721

I also want to assure you that while the actions taken by CBSA happened within some proximity of our school, our school and our staff were not involved in this action. We are proud that our District has a Sanctuary Schools Policy in place, and we take that very seriously. As a school, and as a District, we are committed to providing education to all kids living in our community, in a safe and welcoming environment, regardless of immigration status.

Thank you for your understanding and support,
Jen Richter
